The Full Story
About

Voices for Change Inc. is an advocacy, education, and community engagement organization built from lived experience, hard-won knowledge, and a deep belief that people deserve fairness, dignity, and a genuine chance to move forward.

The organization is co-led by a husband and wife whose journey through the Canadian criminal justice and correctional systems profoundly shaped their purpose. Their leadership brings together lived experience from within the system, sustained advocacy from outside it, professional healthcare expertise, and a family-centred perspective.

Voices for Change Inc. was founded by an individual who personally experienced systemic failures, procedural unfairness, and institutional decision-making that lacked transparency and proportionality. Faced with these realities, he committed himself to rigorous self-education in law, policy, and institutional procedure learning how systems operate, how decisions are made, and how accountability can be lawfully pursued. Through principled self-advocacy and persistence, he was able to challenge unjust actions, secure documented accountability, regain his freedom, and rebuild his life with his family.

Alongside him throughout this journey was his wife and Co-Director, whose advocacy, organization, and resilience were essential at every stage. While navigating complex institutional processes and sustained correspondence, she also completed her university education, entered the nursing profession as a Registered Nurse, developed expertise in Healthcare, and carried the responsibilities of raising their family. Together, they bring balance, credibility, compassion, and integrity to the work.

Today, Voices for Change Inc. exists to bring that education, lived experience, and clarity to others.
Our services are designed to support individuals and families impacted by justice and correctional systems through vigorous, ethical advocacy, system navigation, education, and accountability. We work to ensure that decisions are fair, lawful, evidence-based, and humane—and that people are not permanently defined by their worst moments.

In addition to individual and family advocacy, we are committed to public speaking, youth and at-risk youth engagement, and community education. Through honest, prevention-focused conversations grounded in real-world experience, we help young people and communities understand consequences, accountability, and the choices that shape future outcomes—before harm escalates.
All work carried out by Voices for Change Inc. is conducted lawfully and ethically, with respect for institutional independence, judicial processes, and community safety. We do not provide legal advice or replace legal counsel. Our role is to stand beside people; to inform, advocate, and support—so they can move forward with dignity, responsibility, and hope.

Voices for Change Inc. exists to advocate vigorously, ethically, and lawfully for individuals and families impacted by the justice and correctional systems—so that those who deserve a fair chance are truly given one.

Our mission is to bring together lived experience, education, and professional expertise to support people navigating complex institutional systems, challenge unfair or disproportionate decisions, and promote transparency, accountability, and humane treatment.

We work to help individuals move forward—toward freedom, reintegration, and reunification with their families—while emphasizing responsibility, growth, and lawful decision-making. We believe people are more than their worst moments, and that informed advocacy and guidance can change outcomes.

In addition to individual and family advocacy, our mission includes public speaking, youth and at-risk youth engagement, and community education, with a focus on prevention, early intervention, and real-world learning. Through honest conversations grounded in lived experience, we aim to help young people and communities make informed choices before harm occurs.

Vision

We envision a justice and correctional system—and a broader community—where fairness, dignity, and humanity guide every decision.

Our vision is a future where individuals are treated lawfully and proportionately, where decisions are transparent and accountable, and where people are not permanently defined by their worst moments. A system that recognizes growth, responsibility, and the capacity for change.

We envision families being recognized as essential partners rather than obstacles, and youth being supported through education, prevention, and credible guidance before harm occurs.

Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we strive for a society where people are given real opportunities to regain their freedom, reconnect with their families, and build stable, meaningful lives; while contributing positively to their communities.

Above all, we envision a culture where lived experience is valued, ethical advocacy is respected, and hope is paired with accountability.
