Meet the Team

At Voices for Change Inc., our strength comes from the different experiences, perspectives, and professional backgrounds of the people behind our work.

Our team brings together lived experience, healthcare expertise, education, advocacy, and an evolving understanding of Canada's justice and correctional systems. While our backgrounds may differ, we share a common commitment: to treat people with dignity, help individuals and families better understand the systems affecting their lives, and advocate for fairness, accountability, and meaningful opportunities for change.

Director-Healthcare & Family Advocacy

Aryana Yari, RN, BScN

Aryana Yari is the Co-Director of Voices for Change Inc. and a Registered Nurse whose perspective combines professional healthcare experience with years of firsthand involvement supporting a family through Canada's criminal justice and correctional systems.

Her role in the story behind Voices for Change began long before the organization itself.

Throughout her family's journey, Aryana remained actively involved in advocacy, correspondence, organization, and navigating complex institutional processes. At the same time, she pursued her university education, entered the nursing profession, developed her healthcare expertise, and carried the responsibilities of raising and supporting a family.

Those experiences gave Aryana a unique understanding of something that can easily be overlooked: involvement with the justice and correctional systems does not affect only one individual. Its effects can extend to spouses, children, parents, and entire families.

As a Registered Nurse, Aryana also brings a professional perspective grounded in compassion, communication, ethical responsibility, dignity, and person-centred care. Her healthcare background complements the lived and advocacy experience within Voices for Change and helps ensure that the organization's work considers the whole person—not simply a file, conviction, institutional history, or past mistake.

As Co-Director, Aryana contributes to the organization's advocacy, family support, community engagement, organizational development, and commitment to responsible and ethical service.

She believes that meaningful change requires accountability, but also compassion, stability, support, and an opportunity for people and families to rebuild.

Advocacy & Community Engagement

Haifa Rohani

Haifa Rohani is a third-year university student with a longstanding interest in law, advocacy, and the Canadian criminal justice system. He is working toward attending law school, with the long-term goal of pursuing a career in corporate law while also using his education and future professional experience to give back through pro bono and community-focused work.

Haifa joined Voices for Change because he believes meaningful advocacy requires more than understanding laws and policies. It also requires compassion, patience, communication, and a genuine willingness to listen to the experiences of others.

Through his work with VFC, Haifa is developing practical experience in advocacy and criminal justice while contributing to the organization's work supporting individuals and families navigating complex systems.

Friendly, approachable, and compassionate, Haifa believes that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their circumstances or past experiences. He strives to create an environment where the people VFC supports feel comfortable speaking openly, feel heard, and know that their concerns are being taken seriously.

As he continues his education and prepares for a future career in law, Haifa hopes to learn not only from the professionals around him, but also from the lived experiences of the individuals and families VFC serves.

Above all, he hopes his work with Voices for Change can make a meaningful and positive difference in the lives of the people he has the privilege of supporting.
